Pâte de verre MAGIC Master Class with Emma Varga

June 1st - 5th, 9am - 4pm

During this 5-day course, I will introduce an array of atypical methods in using frits and a vast number of combinations of these methods.

Most notable difference from common use of pâte de verre is absence of ’paste’. I use dry frit, which leads
to a number of shortcuts and unusual combinations of well known glass techniques – fusing and slumping.
This approach is being very effective: easy to do and producing eyecatching results. Additional advantages are considerable savings in materials and energy for firings, as well as almost no need for coldworking finalized objects.

Integral part of this class will be, short but useful, daily PowerPoint presentations, demonstrating how I used above processes in creating my own artwork.
I will demonstrate / create my own small projects in glass during the class, further claryfying the simplicity of processes, importance of precision, discipline and following required procedures.

Recording, discussing and understanding firing schedules for pâte de verre wafers and objects is a very important part of the course.

The simplicity of the processes and absence of need for coldworking will enable participants to create several finalized projects by the end of 5 day class
