 | HOTLINE® FLOAT GLASS PRODUCTS
Float glass or window glass as it is sometimes called, is becoming increasingly popular in the area of fusing. It is seen in doors, room dividers, furniture, and tableware made of kiln-formed float glass. Apart from painting, the possibility of decorating with float glass was limited until now. With HOTLINE powders, the glass worker now has a colorful palette of compatible products for decorating with float glass.
The C.O.E. = 82 x 10-7ºC, making the colors compatible with each other and with float glass. Float glass has several advantages over familiar fusible glass: It is less expensive, readily available from hardware or builder supply stores, smooth on both sides and available in several thicknesses and large sizes.
Double-strength float glass closely matches the thickness of most stained and art glass at 1/8" (3mm). NOTE: The C.O.E. 82 x 10-7ºC, FF HOTLINE colors, are not compatible with stained and art glass colors which usually have a C.O.E. range from 90 through 104.
Float glass is produced by flowing the melted glass over a bed of molten tin. This leaves an invisible tin coating on one side. This side must face up. A "Tin Scope" (Cat. No. 52180) or UV light (Cat. No. 5214) fitted with a shortwave bulb (Cat. No. 5214SW) are suitable light sources for detecting the filmed tin side of the glass. See our Catalog page A22 for a list of colors. |

Cat. No. 4876 - 4 oz. (118ml) bottle
An extremely fine, light and aromatic oil. Makes an excellent vehicle or mixing agent for powders. May be mixed to a light consistency suitable for brush application with fine detail. Dries slowly, but burns out as the powders fuse into the glass. If desired, it may be diluted with lavender oil: one part lavender oil to four parts of clove oil. |
 | LAVENDER OIL
Cat. No. 4877 - 4 oz. (118ml) bottle
A thin, light oil which acts as a thinner for clove oil and other heavier oils.
May also be used for matting with stainer colors, providing a smooth overlay color blend. |
